ARC makes $5 million donation to Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre

Supporting world-class cancer treatment and research in Alberta

ARC was on the ground at the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre in Calgary to announce a $5 million donation to the OWN.CANCER campaign, the largest corporate donation to date. The donation will support clinical trials and innovations in radiation oncology at the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre. The Arthur Child will be the largest comprehensive cancer centre in Canada, with 160 in-patient beds, 100+ patient exam rooms, 90+ chemotherapy chairs, 12 radiation vaults and 110,000 square feet of dedicated research space.

“Cancer is a diagnosis that requires an extensive network of support to conquer, and it’s a cause that hits close to home for ARC and our employees. The Arthur Child will open the doors for patients to receive world-class care and we look forward to seeing the positive impact this will have for so many Albertans.”

Anderson visited the new facility, on Tuesday, March 12 to announce the donation alongside Alberta Cancer Foundation Chief Executive Officer, Wendy Beauchesne.

“I would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to ARC for their transformative donation to cancer care in Alberta. Their generous and ongoing support will not only drive groundbreaking research but also directly impact the lives of Albertans facing cancer, offering hope, comfort, and improved outcomes right here in Calgary.”

World-Class Care and Innovative Research

Expected to open in the fall of 2024, the facility will have a dual purpose, first to serve cancer patients in and around Alberta providing world-class cancer care through support programs for the patient and their family. Second, it will be the home of a dedicated research space used to develop new diagnostic tools and precision medicine to identify, target and weaken cancer early in an individual’s diagnosis, as well as understand how cancer can be prevented all together.

Tour Alberta for Cancer

ARC’s partnership with the Alberta Cancer Foundation extends beyond the Arthur Child. Last year, ARC made its debut in the Tour Alberta for Cancer as a Northern Lights sponsor with the ARC team riding 4,600 km and raising more than $110,000. This year, the team will be suiting up once again for the cause and ARC has confirmed a $225,000 commitment over three years to the ride.

Over the years, ARC has contributed a total of more than $6.5 million to incredible work that the Alberta Cancer Foundation does for countless cancer patients here in Alberta. It’s a long-term partnership that we believe will have positive impacts for generations to come.
