Every day, countless Albertans face the challenges of a cancer diagnosis. Whether through a personal battle, or by supporting family, friends or colleagues as they navigate their way through diagnosis, treatment and recovery – cancer touches all our lives. At ARC, we have felt the impact many times as our people and their families have been faced with their own cancer experiences.
While we may not be able to control how it touches our lives, we can focus our energy and take action to create a better world. For three years, that motivation has driven Team ARC in the annual Tour Alberta for Cancer fundraiser. Our passionate people have collectively pedalled nearly 30,000 kilometres and raised over $620,000 to help create a cancer-free future.
As a Northern Lights Sponsor, ARC is incredibly proud of how our people have embraced the event as riders, volunteers, and supporters. Together, we have joined the Alberta Cancer Foundation’s “More Hope Movement”, and our team is once again getting ready to saddle up for Alberta’s largest cycling fundraiser.
Each year, as our team grows, so does our impact. While many had never rode long distances or even owned a road bike before joining the team – the opportunity to help people facing cancer and honour the memory of loved ones has motivated people across our company to join. The incredible experience of Tour weekend has made cyclists of all of them, with many returning year after year, despite hills, heat, and headwinds that make two days of cycling a true test of endurance and will.
ARC is fuelled by people of action with big hearts and a desire to make a difference. This high-performance culture has driven our business success for the last 30 years and continues to energize our team as they meet their ambitious fundraising goals and hit Alberta’s highways.
And so, we ride. We ride for those we love, those we’ve lost, and those yet to fight their cancer battle. We ride to fund cancer research and treatment, so that fewer must face that fight and those who do have hope for tomorrow.
