"During my eight-month co-op, I was tasked with an optimization project with direct impacts in our Kakwa field. Using modelling software to compare accuracy in predicting production volumes, I worked to understand and identify opportunities to optimize numerous variables throughout wells in the area. The correlations I found were used to help our engineers make critical decisions that would enable production increases and cost-savings. I found this work to be challenging and exciting to be a part of.”

"Going through ARC’s Start program has given me the opportunity to continuously expand my knowledge, take on more complex projects, and build relationships with other ARC employees. Additionally, ARC places a heavy focus on field experience which helps lay a great foundation for a career in the energy sector."

“My co-op program project involved researching how to optimize completion frac operations. Using Python code, data science and analytic techniques, I am working on predicting the frac size based on surface treatment data without running DarkVision log, which can contribute to the optimization of our expenses in the future. Also, determination of the relationships between geological/geomechanical parameters and erosion data on completed wells can help to improve future well development. Working on these strategic projects has given me practical skills and exposure to the industry.”

"My summer term was unique in that it consisted of many smaller projects for both the Internal and External Financial Reporting teams. Given my unique experience of completing multiple projects for two separate teams I was able to gain a more diverse learning opportunity of the various aspects of financial reporting and some of the intersections between the two."

“During the summer, a significant project that I worked on was improving the way we plan and track our company's IT budget and expenses for applications and software. Using Power BI, I created a detailed report which shows budgeted versus actuals information about ARC’s software-related expenditures. In short, this report provides managers with the insights they need to make data-driven decisions when they are planning next year’s budget.”
