Supporting skilled & prepared future generations with Indspire

As a responsible producer of Canadian energy, ARC understands the importance of building strong relationships with Indigenous Peoples in our operating areas. We are committed to advancing reconciliation and creating opportunities for partnership, growth, and learning so that we can support strong and vibrant Treaty 8 communities.

A key pillar of our community giving program is to support programs that enable Skilled and Prepared Future Generations. Education plays a critical role in shaping the community leaders of tomorrow and we believe that by creating opportunities for Indigenous youth to gain the skills needed to pursue rewarding careers, we can help to create positive and lasting impacts for generations.

Since 2020, we have partnered with Indspire to offer financial support to Indigenous students from the Treaty 8 communities near our operations. These educational scholarships help Indigenous youth to obtain university degrees or professional trade certifications and enable future employment in the energy sector.

Indspire is an Indigenous national charity that invests in the education of First Nations, Inuit and Métis people for the long-term benefit of these individuals, their families and communities, and Canada. In partnership with Indigenous, private and public sector stakeholders, Indspire educates, connects and invests in Indigenous people so they will achieve their highest potential.

To date, ARC has distributed nearly $100,000 to more than 40 students through Indspire’s Building Brighter Futures: Bursaries, Scholarships and Awards program. These scholarships help to open doors for Indigenous youth by reducing the financial burden of their university, college, or professional trades programs and equipping them with the skills needed to build successful careers.

Hear from some of our past recipients:

Jaylynn T

“I have always been interested in becoming a social worker, mainly because I worked with many social workers growing up. Receiving this scholarship is a financial relief and an immense encouragement for me to continue pursuing my educational goals.”

Jolie F

Gift Lake Métis Settlement, AB Indigenous Languages | Yellowhead Tribal College

“I am currently in my second year of Language Revitalization, to become a Cree language teacher. I chose this degree so I could keep my language and culture alive for the next generations. This award helps me immensely because I am a single mother.”

Tyler B

“Human Rights are very important to me, and I want to spend the first part of my career fighting for Reconciliation. I am currently in my second year of Law school at the University of Alberta and my goals are to pursue international law and space law. I want to be in a position to help those people who have no one to speak for them.”
