ARC makes $1 million donation to Northwestern Polytechnic’s new Bachelor of Engineering University Transfer Program

On March 9, 2021, ARC’s Vice President, Production, Sean Calder, attended Northwestern Polytechnic’s Unveiling Ceremony to announce our $1 million donation in support of the Polytechnic’s Bachelor of Engineering university transfer program.

ARC is proud to announce a $1 million dollar partnership with Northwestern Polytechnic to support the start-up of a Bachelor of Engineering university transfer program. As a new addition to the school’s offerings, the program provides students with the opportunity to begin their studies closer to home, and then transfer to the University of Alberta, with guaranteed intake, to complete their degree.

“This program will play an integral role in improving the accessibility of quality and relevant educational programming for students in the Grande Prairie and surrounding area and support the development of top talent for our future workforce in this thriving region,” said Terry Anderson, President and Chief Executive Officer, ARC Resources Ltd. “We are proud to partner with Northwestern Polytechnic on this valuable program.”

On March 9, 2022, ARC was in attendance as Northwestern Polytechnic officially unveiled their Polytechnic status and name change at an on-campus celebration. At the event, ARC was proud to announce the details of this new partnership. In recent years, the region has faced skilled labour shortages and the university transfer program was a natural fit to support local educational programming, with a direct link to future job opportunities ARC can offer in the region.

Education is a core pillar of ARC’s community giving strategy and we take pride in our partnerships that deliver relevant and accessible educational programming for our communities. In addition to the transfer program, ARC offers new graduates further development opportunities through our Engineering START Program. With a deliberate focus on providing high-impact learning opportunities, the START program helps students and new graduates build practical skills while gaining valuable exposure to different areas of our business. Most of ARC’s new graduates are hired from these student alumni and go on to continue their career at ARC.

“This program will play an integral role in improving the accessibility of quality and relevant educational programming for students in the Grande Prairie and surrounding area and support the development of top talent for our future workforce in this thriving region,”
