In honour of National Indigenous Peoples’ day, ARC is proud to celebrate our partnership with Indspire that provides post-secondary scholarships to Indigenous youth. By supporting Indspire’s Building Brighter Futures: Bursaries, Scholarships and Awards program, the ARC Resources Indigenous Scholarship award was established. This award is designed to support individuals from communities in and around ARC’s operations in both Alberta and British Columbia, to bolster skills and enable future employment in the energy sector. In the last year, 15 students have received funding to offset education costs through our donation.
“I am in my first semester of the Alternative Energy Technology program at Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. The AET program at NAIT specializes in renewable energy technologies and there is no other program like it in Western Canada,” said Eric Willier, a scholarship recipient, “we students are so blessed to have such amazing organizations like ARC Resources Ltd to help us through the difficult times of going back to school.”
Indspire is a national Indigenous registered charity that invests in the education of Indigenous Peoples for the long-term benefit of these individuals, their families and communities, and Canada. In partnership with Indigenous, private, and public sector stakeholders, Indspire educates, connects and invests in First Nations Inuit and Métis people so they will achieve their highest potential. For the 2020-2021 academic year, Indspire awarded over $19.9 million through over 6,200 bursaries and scholarships.
In our relationships with neighbouring communities, we recognize and strive to support each community’s unique goals and aspirations. It has been our privilege to operate in the traditional territories of Treaty 6 and Treaty 8 First Nations and Métis people for the last 25 years. Through Indspire, we’re happy to support skill development and education goals of Indigenous Peoples and communities near our operations.
