Senior Cloud Developer

We are currently seeking a Senior Cloud Data Developer to play an integral role in building real-time and batch processing data solutions. We use some of the latest Microsoft technologies and innovative techniques to build a reporting and analytics environment that allows for quick access to data for decision making, with a minimum of time spent on maintenance.

This position will offer the successful candidate broad business exposure to all facets of the Oil & Gas business, at a leading-edge company where technology is used to drive efficiency. The primary responsibility of this position is to help building cloud solutions that enables ingesting and proper storage of operational data to eventually help in our data driven business decisions.

In addition, we are always looking for ways to automate processes, improve efficiency, and limit the time spent supporting the BI application. This is a full-time permanent position.

  • Access to a wide range of technology solutions including Real Time Data Ingestion and Reporting, Traditional Batch Processing, Geospatial Data, Tabular Modelling, Power BI Premium, Events based processing
  • Collaboration and support with our Advanced Analytics team for AI/ML project activities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working with the Asset teams at ARC to complete data engineering and advanced analytics projects
  • Python scripting to manage large data flows using PySpark within an Azure Databricks environment
  • SQL scripting including writing complex logic SQL statements, functions, triggers and stored procedures
  • Adhere to development standards and protocols used at ARC, including data governance, change management, code review, unit testing and documentation
  • Liaise directly with the business to collect, document, and analyze user requirements and map those business requirements to technical artifacts
  • Learn and understand the business processes at ARC
  • Help building real-time and batch processing solutions to ingest operational data and transform it for analytical and reporting purposes
  • Design, develop and improve new and existing artifacts for the Data and Analytics portfolio
  • Collaborate with other developers on each step in the implementation of data engineering projects
  • Good oral and written communication skills, including ability to communicate complex technical descriptions in terms the business can understand

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree/Diploma in Information Technology, or any IT and/or Business-related discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years experience architecting Enterprise Data Warehousing solutions. This includes development of Microsoft multi-dimensional and/or tabular data models
  • Minimum of 2 years experience with developing data engineering solutions with Microsoft Azure toolset (Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL Server, Azure Data Lake, Azure Analysis Services, Azure Stream Analytics, Azure IOT and Event Hubs)
  • Experience developing secure solutions by limiting access with Azure Active Directory leveraging identity management through service principles and group memberships
  • Proficiency with Python (Standard Python, Pandas and PySpark)
  • Proficiency with SQL and Spark SQL 
  • Good understanding of lambda and delta architectures for batch and real-time data processing
  • Foundational knowledge of the Azure technology stack and understanding of which tool is best for a particular business problem
  • Experience in developing automation scripts using PowerShell for Azure service creation and security management.
  • Experience with version control systems (git) and Azure DevOps
  • Understanding of modelling business processes, using the Kimball methodology, for integration into the Data Warehouse.
  • Experience in the Upstream Oil and Gas industry specifically with Operational Data (Geoscience, Drilling, Completions, Engineering or Field Services)
  • Experience in developing dashboards and reports through tools like Spotfire and Power BI
