We are currently seeking a Production Engineering Co-op Student to work with our Production Engineering team. This position reports to a Senior Production Engineer and requires an organized and motivated individual who is ready to work in a fast-paced environment and take on new challenges. This 8-month work term will commence in January 2019. This position will be based in Calgary with travel to field location(s) on occasion.
This dynamic position will provide the successful candidate with an excellent opportunity to learn about the Oil & Gas industry in Western Canada as well as develop their petroleum engineering skills.
This will be a project-based work term where the successful candidate will collaborate with multiple Senior Production Engineers as well as various Operations staff, including field personnel, to complete engineering studies related to the development and optimization of oil and gas wells.
Previous co-op student responsibilities and accomplishments include the following:
- Assist in well file reviews to identify production optimization opportunities and assist in the planning, designing and execution of these opportunities.
- Work on operating cost saving initiatives to improve operational efficiency of processing equipment and wells.
- Calculating facility capacities to understand where potential bottlenecks are when planning future drilling.
Petroleum Industry related experience, a desire to learn operations, along with strong computer skills will be an asset of the successful candidate. The necessary software training will be provided. Although strong training and mentoring will be provided, the successful candidate must be able to work independently within a team environment.
