Operations Engineer / Technologist

We are currently seeking a Operations Engineer/Technologist to work in our Operations Planning team.  As a key member of the team, the successful candidate will be responsible for planning and coordinating ARC’s water activity, while seeking opportunities for operational efficiencies and cost savings. The successful candidate will collaborate with ARC’s various teams to ensure ARC’s water strategy covers all areas of the business. A strong understanding of the technical aspect of our operations is required to be able to identify risks and plan properly.


  • Evaluation and planning of water infrastructure with support from Senior Engineer in team
  • Planning for Attachie and Parkland water hubs and working with teams to develop and maintain water forecasts for each
  • Have all sources lined up for completions working closely with Superintendents and Engineers on plan for getting water to lease and flowback away from lease
  • Maintain ARC’s current licenses and assist on application of new ones as needed
  • Understand ARC water quality and how to address issues with water quality for fracturing and disposal purposes
  • Track water in detail for usage in all areas and have accurate reporting on ARC’s usage (Produced/Fresh/Disposal etc.)
  • Work with multiple teams on execution of water infrastructure and timing
  • Identify opportunities for reducing water sourcing or disposal costs on and ongoing basis
  • Keep up to date with new technologies as they become available and evaluate
  • Communicate with industry players for water sharing possibilities and infrastructure sharing opportunities
  • Ensure water budget is prepared accurately and timely for budget process
  • Ensure input into LRM/LTP is given from water perspective to ensure captured
  • Work closely with Operations Planning Engineer on optimizing timing of fracs for optimal usage
  • Evaluate 3rd party revenue potential and implement plan to proceed to generate income for water infrastructure
  • Stay ahead of any regulatory changes and work closely with regulators and ARC internal regulatory department


The ideal candidates will have 7+ years of Western Canadian oil and gas experience. An Engineering degree or Technologist diploma is preferred.

Additional requirements:

  • Strong technical and operational experience and familiarity with Completions, Drilling, Pipelines, Facilities and Field operations
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical and project management skills
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent business acumen and knowledge of economic drivers
  • A collaborative working style and the ability to build relationships
  • Proven ability in multi-tasking, prioritization, and time management
  • Field experience
