We are currently seeking a Data Engineering Consultant to assist with the development of Data Analytics artifacts along with support and maintenance of our current portfolio. The individual that we are looking for should have a strong interest in learning business domains that analytics programs service through data delivery tools and analytics. This is a full-time contract-based position.  The duration of the contract is 6 months.

Responsibilities: 

  • Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture
  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
  • Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using Azure ‘big data’ technologies
  • Develop fundamental datasets in Azure that will be used to drive ARC’s AI/ML initiatives
  • Help with the development of AI/ML models in Azure
  • Create change requests, gather testing documents and coordinate the deployment of releases to production environment
  • SQL scripting including writing complex logic SQL statements, functions, triggers and stored procedures
  • Adhere to development standards and protocols used at ARC, including data governance, change management, code review, and documentation
  • Liaise directly with the business to collect, document, and analyze user requirements and map those business requirements to technical artifacts
  • Educate, train, and advise internal customers on how to leverage available data for consumption
  • Learn and understand the business processes at ARC

Qualifications: 

  • Degree/Diploma in Information Technology, or any IT and/or Business-related discipline or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Data Engineering role
  • Strong skills with SQL Server
  • Hands on experience with Azure Data services (Data Lake, Databricks, Sql Server, Data Factory)
  • Proficiency with Python/R scripting
  • Experience with version control systems (Git) and project tracking tools (Azure DevOps)
  • Good oral and written communication skills, including ability to communicate complex technical descriptions in terms the business can understand
  • Assets: 
  • Working in an agile environment 
  • Experience with unit testing and continuous integration 
  • Powershell scripting
