We are currently seeking a Completions Engineering Co-op Student to work with our Completions Engineering team. This position reports to a Senior Completions Engineer and requires an organized and motivated individual who is ready to work in a fast-paced environment and take on new challenges. This 8-month work term will commence in January 2020. This position will be based in Calgary with opportunities to visit our field-based completions operations.

This dynamic position will provide the successful candidate with an excellent opportunity to learn about the Oil & Gas industry in Western Canada as well as develop their petroleum engineering skills. 

Position Overview:

This will be a project-based work term where the successful candidate will collaborate with Completions Engineers, Superintendents and field personnel as well as various Asset Team members (Exploitation, Production, Geology and Geophysics), to complete engineering studies related to enhancing safety, operational and cost performance of our new well completions. 

Key Responsibilities:

Previous Co-op/Summer student responsibilities and accomplishments include the following:

  • Compile ARC completions data and conduct lookbacks on technology trials in an effort to improve capital efficiency
  • i.e.: coil shiftable sleeve technology for annular fracturing
  • Competitor D&C activity review (i.e. Cardium and Montney activity)
  • Prepare fracture communication mitigation plans for single and pad completions.
  • Assisting Completions Engineers in well file reviews and programming well completions
  • Assisting Completions Engineers in reviewing and summarizing technical literature and new technology
  • Assisting Completions Engineers in data preparation and analysis on technical projects

Qualifications:

The position is ideally suited for a student currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Science (Engineering) program. Petroleum Industry related experience, a desire to learn operations, along with strong computer and data analytic skills will be an asset of the successful candidate. All necessary software training will be provided. Although strong training and mentoring will be provided, the successful candidate must be able to work independently within a team environment.
