Position Summary

At ARC, our strong track record of success has been built on our core belief that outstanding people, combined with a great corporate culture creates a winning environment.  We are currently seeking a Capital Accountant to work  in our Internal Financial Reporting team.

As a critical member of the Internal Financial Reporting team, the successful candidate will be responsible for many aspects of the capital accounting process. This includes, but is not limited to, coordination with the Senior Operations Analyst, preparation of capital accruals, monthly depletion calculation, recording gains or impairments on disposed properties, analysis and delivery of monthly results, preparation of quarterly and annual reporting, as well as other projects as required.  This role provides an individual with an opportunity to combine their knowledge of accounting with a keen business sense to provide relevant, accurate information to internal and external users in order to support value-added decision making throughout the organization.

The Capital Accountant will interact directly with the Operations Planning Group, individuals working on capital projects as well as those within the Accounting department.  It is critical that the successful candidate be flexible and willing to complete both monthly tasks as well as special projects as required with a high level of diligence, organization, commitment and efficiency. The successful candidate will possess superior communication skills, an ability to handle multiple priorities, strong attention to detail, and take pride in delivering high quality results.

Skills, Training and Experience Required:

  • At least 3 years of work experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • Completion of or enrollment in a professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA or CGA) would be preferred.
  • Must be a detail oriented individual.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and an ability to coordinate with individuals across the organization.
  • Excellent analytical skills, problem solving and decision making capability.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work in a deadline driven environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience with Qbyte, AFE Navigator and BPC would be considered an asset.
